Bandwidth requirements |
For a video conference connection the minimum recommended bandwidth is 512Mb per second. That speed is equal two two ISDN BRI lines or half of a T1 line. This is required in both directions. So yes, most cable providers and some DSL connections will not provide enough upload for a good video conference connection. A T1 split in half for 2 BRI lines and 512Mb per second for IP would be great. Plus it allows you to have both phone number and IP address, if you do not have a video conference gateway. Many solutions are in place and because of the increasing speed on cable/DSL connections it is now possible for most home users to utilize video conference technology.
